Shmura Matzah

Shmura is a special hand-made, round-shaped Matzah, that in my opinion, tastes way better than the regular matzah you get at the grocery store. Shmura comes from a Hebrew word meaning "to watch or to guard" indicating that the entire process of making the matzah is carefully supervised by a rabbi from the moment the grain is harvested until the finished matzahs are packaged. Shmura matzah is made in small batches, often of whole grain flour, in areas with large Jewish populations, but you can order it from the links below if you want to try it. It's what I use for my seders every year.

Started using shmura matza instead of the kind you get at the grocery store a few years ago, and let me tell you as someone who's not all that enamored of matza-- this stuff is actually pretty darn good! I no longer use the other kind of matza for anything except matza brei, and I always serve this as an appetizer prior to my seder to allow guests extra time to arrive, and be sure that no one is starving through an hour long seder! I break it up into chip size pieces and serve it with store-bought kosher for passover baba ghanoush (it's good and there's enough other stuff to make that it's not worth the bother to make from scratch), but you can also serve shmura matzah with salsa or even guacamole. I am thrilled to be able to offer people who might not stores that carry this near to them to order this via my web site. Plus even here in LA, the stores often run out. It is a little more expensive than some of the other brands, but in my opinion, it's totally worth it, to not spend a week eating tasteless cardboard.
