Ceramic Passover Chess Set

Passover Chess Set - 2002 Niche Award for Judaica Egyptians are on one side; Israelites on the other. Egyptian Players: Pharaoh as King, Queen, Overseers as Bishops, Cats as Knights, Pyramids as Castles. Egyptian deities and golden calf as Pawns. Israelite Players: Israel people as King, Moses as Queen, Aaron and Miriam as Bishops, Lambs as Knights, succah Huts as Castles. The Ten Plagues are the Pawns. The Board: The tile Chess Board is a large aerial view of Mitzraim, the divided sea, and the wilderness. A cloud and Miriam's Well are in the sky. The colored squares are marked with symbols of slavery, bricks, in Mitzraim and matzoh in the wilderness. The tiled sides portray the story of the Exodus.

Seder Plate

This national prizewinning seder plate has six removable tiles that form a puzzle on a handcrafted, solid hardwood tray. The background decoration is a divided sea. Each tile is an appropriate container for the Passover food. An inscription in Hebrew and English adds further explanation. Pass these tiles around the table or assign them to one of the guests. Available in dark or medium wood tones.

Every Passover Seder ends with a rousing version of Had Gadya, the most loved Passover song. Noted graphic artist Seymour Chwast creates a visual story-within-a-story in this children's book, in a timeless village where everyone is busy preparing for the holiday. As in much folklore, the drama is violent: the goat is killed by the cat that is bitten by the dog, and so on, until God finally destroys the Angel of Death. The bright, acrylic folk-art paintings express the rhythm of the chant, as the goat and then the other characters are gathered, in appropriately cumulative fashion, across the top of the double-page spreads.
