Between the covers of this elegant volume dwells a thorough and thoroughly engrossing compilation of stories, songs, recipes, artwork, prayers, and commentary on the beloved Jewish holiday, Passover, going well beyond the typical retelling of the Passover story. A Night of Questions: A Passover Haggadah

A Night of Questions offers everything found in the traditional Haggadah plus a cornucopia of marvelous marginalia, provocative readings and commentaries, suggestions for embellished rituals, song lyrics, incisive interpretations, historical notes, all of it rendered in language that manages to be inclusive and nonsexist without sacrificing lyricism and grace. It also offers outlines for customizing a Seder for the people present at the table. The four menus include a Seder for young children, a Seder for older children with adults, a Seder for groups of diverse backgrounds (including those who are not Jewish), and a Seder focusing on the role of women. This is one of the books I use for my own seder, and I could not recommend it more highly.

Uncle Eli's Passover Haggadah

This is the other main resouce I use for my seder. The story of Passover told in Dr. Seuss-like rhyme makes participation so much fun for kids and grownups alike. At least half the seats at our seder are generally filled with adults who aren't even Jewish, and I think this book has given them a fun way of understanding Passover Jewish traditions. Now they look forward the seder every year!

Ashkenazi Haggadah

Its very, very heavy paper seems almost like the original parchment. It measures 11X13" and has some 100 full page plates. The colors, painting and calligraphy of this scribe could not be equalled in our century. It is perfectly clear and could be used as a functional haggadah although you will certainly not want to drip wine on this treasure. Keep it away from rowdy kids but show it to everyone else. At the end of the book they have appended a modern English and Hebrew version, post Guttenberg style.

The Illuminated Haggadah

This volume is a traditional Haggadah in Hebrew and English with the appeal of an art book Beautiful illuminations from Medieval texts in the British Library such as vines running the margins of the page, elaborate Hebrew letters, folk illustrations, and icon-like depictions of Biblical scenes. A special book for a special night.

Family Haggadah: A Seder for All Generations

Elie M. Gindi originally compiled the Haggadah as a tool to teach his children the mysteries and secrets of the holiday, whild maintaining their interest and stimulating their curiosity. With its easy-to-follow format and glorious full-color illustrations, this is the ideal choice for a home seder attended by lots of children or a congregational model seder.

Passover Haggadah by Elie Wiesel

Accompanying the traditional Haggadah text (which appears here in an accessible new translation) are Elie Wiesel's poetic interpretations, reminiscences, and instructive retellings of ancient legends. The Nobel laureate interweaves past and present as the symbolism of the Seder is explored. Wiesel's commentaries may be read aloud in their entirety or selected passages may be read each year to illuminate the timeless message of this beloved book of redemption.
